Fiona Collins University of New England Student."Beechwood" Yass Road ,Harden, N.S.W. Australia 2587.
I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself, I am Fiona Collins a mother of three children ,Eleven years, Nine years and Seven years of age. I live with my children and husband on a property in the rural town of Harden in New South Wales. I was born in Young, where I grew up and attended both Primary and Secondary School. Upon completion of my Higher School Certificate I completed a childcare certificate in Understanding children. I then gained employment and started working within the Early Education field. Spending eleven years working in the Childcare industry. While working I completed Certificate Three in Children's Services and also a Diploma of Community Service in Children's Devices - Centre Based Care. After Leaving the Childcare Industry I worked as a learning support officer for two years attending many in- services so I was able to enhance students learning along with their classroom teacher. Ensuring all students could learn to the best of their abilities. Leaving the classroom environment for motherhood being a stay at home Mum. I have enjoyed working with and helping to educate children throughout my life that is why I am currently studying to become a future teacher.
My Personal Teaching Philosophy. Having worked in the early education field as a childcare worker ,a Learning support officer and a mother of three children I have developed particular philosophical beliefs about the significance of quality teaching and promotion of children's education, particularly Early childhood and primary school teaching. Enriching the lives of children is important and can be achieved through teachers and their ability to educate children from all walks of life. For this reason I believe teachers need to create a classroom environment that promotes learning and is a place where students are safe (physically, socially and culturally) and influences their continued educational development, helping all students to become informed citizens who are ready for the 21st century.
Teachers must be able to interact with all forms of technology and develop an understanding of technological resources for their educational value and learning for all of their students. Becoming skilled in these resources allows teachers to transfer their knowledge and skills to their students so they can develop them as well. I feel teachers should interact with their students in a respectful manner promoting their self-esteem and self-confidence. Students need to know the importance of making mistakes, as this is a productive learning tool they can use in their learning endeavors. Teachers should use a variety of strategies within the education process of their students accommodating their students preferred learning methods.
